Who we are

Our story

A travel company based in Thimphu, arranging private journeys across Bhutan.

Our approach

We would rather plan
fewer trips, properly

Every journey we run is private. That is a deliberate limit on how many we can handle at once, and it is the reason we can answer an enquiry with a real itinerary rather than a brochure page.

We are based in Thimphu, which matters more than it sounds. Road conditions, whether a pass is holding snow, which hotel has changed hands, whether a festival date has shifted — that is local knowledge with a short shelf life, and it is the difference between an itinerary that reads well and one that works.

Our guides are licensed and Bhutanese, and wherever we can we send you out with someone from the valley you are visiting. Our drivers work the same roads year-round. Neither is a commodity, and we do not treat them as one.

We sell one country. It means we cannot offer you an alternative if Bhutan turns out not to be what you wanted — and it means that when you ask how long the drive from Punakha to Trongsa really takes, the answer comes from someone who did it last month.

What we will not do

The short list

We will not quote a price that leaves fees to be added later — the Sustainable Development Fee and the visa fee are inside the figure we send. We will not tell you a drive takes two hours when it takes four. We will not promise a mountain view, a wildlife sighting, a specific hotel room or a seat at a festival, because none of those can be guaranteed by anyone. And we will tell you when what you have asked for does not fit in the days you have.

We also do not publish traveller counts, star ratings, years-in-business figures or testimonials on this site. If you would like references from previous travellers, ask and we will put you in touch with people who have agreed to be contacted. That is worth more than a number on a homepage, and it is checkable.

The practical version of all this is on How We Work — six commitments you can hold us to, written so that you can check them against what we actually send you.
